Credit with Chris – Q&A #7 – How often should I have my credit report pulled and is it true that if pulled too many times my scores will drop?

Question:  How often should I have my credit report pulled and is it true that if pulled too many times my scores will drop?

Answer:   You should pull your credit report at least once every 12 months.  It is free only from www.annualcreditreport.com and you can either have it mailed or download instantly from all three credit bureaus.  If you pull it yourself as a consumer request then it will not affect your credit.  However, if you have your friend at the mortgage company or car dealership pull it for you then it will affect your credit as a hard inquiry.
