Credit with Chris – Q&A #11 – How long does it take to regain good credit standing after a setback?

Question:  How long does it take to regain good credit standing after a setback?

Answer:  To answer this question I guess it depends on the setback.  For example, a bankruptcy will have a significant impact on your credit; however, right after it is discharged you can start rebuilding.  Some people have seen their credit scores go from the 500’s to 700’s simply by starting over the right way.  Other type of derogatory accounts may take a little longer, such as collections, charge offs or judgments and it depends on whether you pay them or not.  Whatever the issue, remember you have to do something to start the rebuilding process.
